GRACEFUL (FIVE MINUTE FRIDAY)

GO
A GRACEFUL FLIGHT, BALLET IN THE SKY.

Who doesn't delight at the sight of migratory birds in flight like the Trumpeter Swans.  Up there in the sky, which they have conquered, like no human machinery has, they fly on heavenly wings.  They seem to have mastered the power to grace the sky.

Like a ballet dancer who has spent so many years in training and discipline, perfected movements on her toes, like flying in the sky, captures the stage.  I believe that they are so like the graceful movements of the swan, in flight or in repose on placid lakes.

My word for today was taken from 1 Corinthians 9:24-27.  It is the runners verse for the prize.  He has to submit to discipline to hone his muscles and stamina.  He spends hours upon hours in the gym.  He diets to meet the nutrition to become healthy and able.  He uses time wisely for rest and for practice.  And in the race his sight is on the prize.

To me, that sounds like the preparation the migratory birds have to go through in their own particular way to endure the temperatures, days of unwavering flight, sustained by their instincts and powerful muscles.  To complete the package, they stay graceful in flight with a formation akin to ballet dance. Ballet in the sky.

In my previous post, I wrote about this season in my life, where I was carried by our Lord to His altar of grace.  He has honed my patience, humility and strength through this season.  And it is comparable to bird migration.

It is one thing to discipline ones self for this race called life and another to do it by being graceful.  But we can never do it without God, without His word, without prayers.

 I COR. 9:24-27 (kjv)
24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

    1. Thanks, Pam.

I like to post that as a sub-title. I needed this.

Now I may go back and add this one after writing without editing.

  2. Thanks for sharing, Lolita. My husband used to fly (before he met me) small aircraft off of our grass strip on the prairie. Often he will watch the sky, and remark on how adept the birds are...how perfectly crafted their wings are to adjust to changes in wind patterns, to dip and dive, and to do so perfectly what a machine with wings only tries to imitate. Human invention mirrors God's unique creation. And yes, you are right. They are full of grace.

  3. Lovely post. I love the word grace, that is my daughter's second name. It means very many things, undeserved favor... that's one.

Swans and eagles and herons... these are graceful birds.

I am sure heaven will be an eternity full of grace.

  5. Your main post might be short but brings so much lesson in life and what a great analogy! What can any do without His grace? Apart from Him, there is no fruit...

How perfect the Lord' s work is that no humans can explain. Even if they try to create the products are still far from perfection and always have flaws. I can' t imagine the hardships each bird has to go through, though equipped with wings, before learning how to fly. But what a sight to see them soar above the skies knowing they 'overcame' the difficulties of going against the gravitational pull!!!

And we will overcome. Not because we are strong...but because of His strength. "I can do everything through Christ Who strengthens me..." His Word that you shared touched me because that was what I shared with a sick inmate during one of the sick calls we had who happened to be a Christian.

Your life' s journey is a blessing to us. Your faith blesses and increases mine. To God be the glory! Because of Him Who is faithful and true, we will overcome the "pulls" of this world and someday...we will also soar...like those birds and dance for eternity...God bless you sister and may you always be strong in His mighty power!!!

    1. As yours do me, Rosell.

We are destined to meet even virtually to edify and build each other in Christ.

Continue to bless those who happen in your close circle, like you do in your job. Jesus shine in your life and I know others will see the light and bring them to our Lord.

  7. Well said. I'm not sure I've done much of my life with grace... I think maybe with too much might... which tends to wear one out prematurely... Grace... Yes, I need to show more of what I receive from my Father. Nice job, beautiful words.

    2. Lolita-
as always your writing is filled with Spiritual meaning that
      we all can grasp.

Sorry I haven't dropped by lately-PAIN is really doing a number on me and I am having to really focus hard on taking
care of myself so I will have strength to go back into the
      Battle ring..

This Latest ROUND of Pain is not something new-but certainly is presenting a real challenge for me and my doctor.. I keep pushing forward by HIS grace and Love..

I have a beautiful "reminder" of sorts as I sit at my computer in the wee hours of the morning-a while back Diane sent me a gorgeous "Throw/Blanket" that I have draped over a huge rocking chair (this is Matt's chair when he comes to my office and we share)

      The phrase says:

The Lord did not promise that Life would be easy, but He Did Promise to go with you Every step of the way!

I look at these words and gain needed inner spiritual courage to push on...

Keep writing away Lolita-you are SOARING!!!

What a beautiful post, Lolita. You wrote it so gracefuly and eloquently, and with rich meaning. I am trying to write a children's story (have been for a couple of years because I am NOT a fiction writer!), and I referred to something similar with birds and ballet. They truly dance with grace on the breeze. Also, I recently wrote a poem comparing a pianist to a swan! =] At any rate, I love your imagery!
      Love

  12. Martha, I am sorry I could not visit you more. I might be on-line on the weekends when I visit my bookkeeping part-time job. Our connection in my office has been controlled lately.

I am always thinking of you and your struggles with Pain. Please know that I am here to bring your pleas before the altar of our Lord.

    Thanks for your encouragement.
