 Music washes away from the soul
the dust of everyday life.
~Berthold Auerbach

There's music in the sighing of a reed;
There's music in the gushing of a rill;
There's music in all things, if men had ears:
Their earth is but an echo of the spheres.

~Lord Byron

Music is what feelings sound like.
~Author Unknown

A painter paints pictures on canvas.  But musicians paint their pictures on silence.
~Leopold Stokowski

Take a music bath once or twice a week for a few seasons.  You will find it is to the soul what a water bath is to the body.
                                                           ~Oliver Wendell Holmes

                                         He who sings scares away his woes.  ~Cervantes

Is there spirit in music?

Does music touch your soul?

Can it paint the sky the color of sunset?

Do the wind blow easterly and monsoon without a sound?

Do the flutter and sway of Autumn leaves, falling to ground, gather without a hush, whispering the nearness of frost?

Did music score any of the moments you were sad, happy, carefree?

Didn't it signify milestones in your life or your child's?

Does the wonder and splendor of the Creator strike a deafening chorus, which fill your heart to bursting, and feet to dancing, just like the Psalmist?

Just think, or imagine a world without music.  Although some are born without hearing, some due to acquired illness, still music goes on, written or unwritten.

I do believe God wrote music and sings for us, in every moment of our walk.

He can dream dreams for and in us.

He can paint and create marvelous objects for and through us.

And therefore, He co-writes music with us.

It heals every woe of our soul, eases up tired muscles and bones,

fills our heart with love .......

and the patter of the rain rushing down to ease the dryness of the land, sends beautiful notes to the sleeping seeds beneath.

I love the sight, sound and touch of music.

Can you remember special moments or  events in your life when you hear certain songs?

When We All Get to Heaven

1. Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,
Sing His mercy and His grace;
In the mansions bright and blessed
He'll prepare for us a place.

2. While we walk the pilgrim pathway
Clouds will overspread the sky;
But when trav'ling days are over,
Not a shadow, not a sigh.

3. Let us then be true and faithful,
Trusting, serving every day;
Just one glimpse of Him in glory
Will the toils of life repay.

4. Onward to the prize before us!
Soon His beauty we'll behold;
Soon the pearly gates will open,
We shall tread the streets of gold.

When we all get to heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We'll sing and shout the victory.
And here is Pachelbel's Canon in D.
Music at its best.
 We owe it to Him.

And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of rushing
waters and like a loud peal of thunder. The sound I heard
was like that of harpists playing their harps.

~Revelation 14:2

And who doesn't love Fraulein Maria (played by Julie Andrews) of the Sound of Music
I think kids of today should watch the movie.  Up 'til now, it never fails to inspire me.

For when you are downcast or in a situation of doubt, you can sing The Hills Are Alive With the Sound of Music

And when you are in a difficult time, waiting for God's answer, you need patience and to trust in Him, go sing Climb Every Mountain.

I also love the message of Sixteen Going on Seventeen.  It is a love and courtship message for the young people.

Even when you are afraid of the storm,  you can sing with the Family Von Trapp, like counting your blessings, with My Favorite Things.

There, isn't it true that when you are afraid, in doubt, in a valley of waiting, insecure or with an illness, we only need to sing, to Praise, to Worship our God, our Provider, our Healer........  Then, even as we sing, we are relieved, we become content, joyful and hopeful.  For we are given a light yoke.   He invites us to cast all our burdens upon Him.

  1. your post is always inspiring. You can just put in paper words of wisdom and words that inspires. Thanks!

    1. You too, Joy.

      You have the gift to inspire others, in writing and in your life.

      Thank you for your kind words.

  2. I love to listen to music. They soothe. They calm. They inspire...No! I can't imagine a day without hearing a song. Notes that arise from inspired hearts. Like when a heart is filled with God's love, joy overflows. So the right response is to just "sing a new song"...To the One Who deserves it.

    I remember Matt Redman's song "A Father's Song" as I was reading your post and I love this part:

    "Heavens perfect melody
    The Creators symphony
    You are singing over me
    The Fathers song
    Heavens perfect mystery
    The king of love has sent for me
    And now you're singing over me
    The Fathers song..."

    1. Thanks for these lines, Rosel. I like the lyrics of this one.

      Yes, even if I can't sing well, I have ears and heart to soar in singing.

  3. From my littlest memories, music has always been there... moving me, healing me, soaring me. It is one of God's greatest gifts! Once I saw a report on Good Morning America (a news talk show) that proved somehow scientifically that God has written a unique song into our bodies - it showed up in brain waves or something like that. A literal song inside us each. That thought is so amazing - what a wonder our God is!

    1. Gee, Pam. I love that thought so much.

      I know God sang a unique song for me, even before I was formed.

      I wish I could fathom that song.... but only God can sing it to me.

    2. I know... it is so amazing to think of! Like fingerprints, it is unique to each of us.

      I love the words about Sound of Music that you just added!

  4. Lolita love this post for I love music, listening and singing it. I love too what Pam shared about God has written a special song just for us...that a thought one can soar on. Beautiful post my friend, beautiful just as you are. Blessings

    1. Thank you, dear Betty, my brave-hearted friend.

      I wish I will hear you sing. I would love to hear God's songs by you.

      God bless you.

  5. A special song in us written by the Beloved of our Souls,,,,Thanks for sharing that Pam!

    There was a TV special last year with the van Trapp great-grandchildren singing. Oh, it was special to see the legacy passed to the generations.

    Thank you for the songs, Lolita!

  6. Yes, D.

    Pam's posts affects me so much.... that I too love to think about music, colors, scents and sights.

    Our senses in tune with God's marvelous things and deeds.

    Thank you too.

    1. Thank you, Lolita. I'm always praying God will touch others as you do too... and it means so much to hear that.

      Yes, Diane... that was such a wondrous report that it stays with me...
