GOOD MORNING, MR. GABI!

MY OFFICE CUBICLE
We call the Taro Root (Colocasia esculenta) Gabi (local name), here in our country.

I became an avid fan of culturing root vegetables as ornamental (indoor) plant.

I brought a fully grown one in my office and here it is.  This is Mr. Gabi.

Every morning as I enter my cubicle, I always greet it a sunny and bright, "Good Morning Mr. Gabi, how are you today?"

Then I would check the water if it is still at the right level, if not it would be bending just like
someone doing the stretch down to one side and has forgotten to straighten back up.

I never forget to bring it over to a sunny window
or water it to keep for the whole weekend or on holidays.

It is just so easy to make but you need a long period to let the root sit on a cool corner before it starts to grow roots and eventually sprout a stalk.  Due to the limited space with which it thrives on, it only prosper a leaf at a time.  I like it that way too.  It is like a Zen Garden to me.

It never fails to make me look up at our maker.  Notice how it rises up tall to the ceiling as though in praise to the Creator.

ON A SHALLOW DISH(THE CORM SHOWN)
Anyways, I just wanted to show you that I have a green thumb too.  I am planning to do a box garden of herbs and veggies soon.  I am searching on tips and ways to do it in an apartment with only the windows for space.

Doesn't it look so Zen and peaceful?  Oh joyous peace in the beauty of nature.  Something like a gem out of the ordinary.

Aside:  We both hope to retire together.

Thank you, my Lord for the wonders of your hand and for the new mercies daily.  Great is Thy faithfulness, Oh God and Father!

GOD BLESS YOU ALL, OVER THE WEEKEND! WOHOOO!  ALLELUIA!

Every Morning Mercies New
Hymn Lyrics

Every morning mercies new
Fall as fresh as morning dew;
Every morning let us pay
Tribute with the early day:
For Thy mercies, Lord, are sure;
Thy compassion doth endure.

Still the greatness of Thy love
Daily doth our sins remove;
Daily, far as east from west,
Lifts the burden from the breast;

Gives unbought to those who pray
Strength to stand in evil day.

Let our prayers each morn prevail,
That these gifts may never fail;
And, as we confess the sin
And the tempter’s power within,
Every morning, for the strife,
Feed us with the Bread of Life.

As the morning light returns,
As the sun with splendor burns,
Teach us still to turn to Thee,
Ever blessèd Trinity,
With our hands our hearts to raise,
In unfailing prayer and praise.

FROM THE VIDEO YOUR GRACE STILL AMAZES ME

My faithful Father,
My enduring Friend!
Your grace still amazes me,
Your love still a mystery.

When your grace amazes to no end,
When your love a mystery to me still,
What then will my attitude be?

I fall down on my knees,
I bow down my head.
And just be in your presence, Lord.

  3. Another thing we have in common, Lolita! I love indoor plants! I speak to mine as well - and sometimes sing. I have two plants that are extremely old. One is the Christ Thron. It originally was my mother's from when I was about 6 years old. That makes it 53 years old. About 20 years ago, we got a dog who attacked the plant and devoured it's throns. Most of the plant died, except one small piece. That plant is huge now.

    The other was a Christmas Cactus from my first apartment. When I moved in, my landlady had it sitting on the windowsill for me. That is 39 years old. That too has a story, which I will spare you.

    I can't imagine my life without my plants.

    I love your blog's new look. I marvel at your creativity! I never know what I will find....LOL...I love it!

  4. Beautiful Lolita. I love putting gabi on my beef sinigang, or gabi leaves for my pangat with coconut milk. I can try growing the gabi myself. Yours is quite artistic.

    Thanks for the good idea. Will let you know how it turns out.

    Love

  7. @Lidj-

    You can make any of our tubers but I like the Gabi because it can only grow one or two stalks at a time. Simple and not so delicate in its setting. Go ahead, I know you love plants too. You have a garden outside so it is also good to have those green leaves inside to emit oxygen.

  8. @Diane-

    I would have like to develop bonsai plants, but I seen not to make them last long. The last time I had, it was also attached and I did not have another because it is a petty.

    I love looking at them at shows.

    I am glad you still have your old ones... plus the one that became a regular tree outside.

    Lolita,

    I enjoy growing unique plants too. How fun that one was, and the analogy you drew from it.

    Counting his gifts brings joy, doesn't it? Thanks for your cheerful comments and presence on my site.

    Yes, Jen.

    I love to be in your place where you always send me higher than the sod, where we can meet up with our Father and be soaked with all that He can be for us and through us.

    You bless me so, Martha.

    Thank you. There is no secret. I just love to be a child in the eyes of our God-fully dependent upon His grace.

    As for the green thumb secret. My older sister is better off than I. She can just grow anything and she understands any particular way of caring each one she grows. The one I did is more like a hobby/craft to me.... and the Taro corm is just so "growable" like potatoes.

    Bless you, my dear.
